St Leonards Review

Introduction

St Leonards is situated on the lower north shore of Sydney. It is lively and has the buzz of a city life. It has a large commercial center that has headquarters of many big Australian companies. It is set to see major infrastructural transformations. Development is at its peak and hence, St Leonards is expected to double in population in the next 15 years

A new Metro station is planned 150 meters away from St Leonards and another regular rail station is coming up the opposite direction of the suburb. This double dose of connectivity is set to give a new lease of life of St Leonards. The area has tall apartment style of homes. It is very convenient for those who are working in St Leonards itself.

It has good transport connectivity to the CBD with good frequency that can ferry you to the heart of the city. St Leonards is home to one of Sydney’s suburban skyscraper clusters that have many major corporate offices like IBM, Lenovo, and Oporto. St Leonards offers you to choose from many good dining options to unwind after a hectic day at office.

St Leonards is a buzzing lively suburb that is very close to the city and Chatswood. It has good transport connectivity, best of schools like St Leonard's Church of England Primary School, Greenwich Public School and Wenona School Ltd. Royal North Shore Hospital in St Leonards is the largest hospital north of Port Jackson in Sydney. It’s a commercial hub that offers many good restaurants and dining places to sit out. If you like modern lifestyle with tall apartments, you have many options here and these apartments are well serviced.

Many more residential places are coming up. In times to come St Leonards can offer you best apartment style living with great connectivity. The local council has a good, futuristic vision for the area. Hence, the suburb is seeing a lot of development and transformation.


Challenges

Only drawback of the area is that it lacks open green spaces and sometimes parking can be an issue.


Location

St Leonards is located on the North Shore of Sydney. It is located 5 Km north-west of the CBD


Connectivity

St Leonards has very good public transport connectivity. Its railway station is on the North Shore, Northern and Western Line of the Sydney Trains Network. The Pacific Highway runs through the suburb.

There are frequent and good transport links to the CBD that take you right to the heart of the city. Crows Nest Metro Station is name of the new upcoming metro station in the area. This will connect St Leonards southern gateway to the commercial center.



Shopping destinations

St Leonards has all the essential convenience stores like a dry cleaner, pharmacy and newsagent. It also has cafes, restaurants and supermarkets at a walking distance. You also have a bar and nightclub if you want to relax over a drink after a long day. If you want to visit a big mall, St Leonards is halfway between the city centre and Chatswood that have many options for a dedicated shopper.

St Leonards also boasts of the Forum Tower. It is an apartment complex that has everything. From an Indoor heated pool, a gym, spa to eating joints and convenience stores like a dry cleaner, newsagent, pharmacy and a doctor’s clinic too. Gilroy's bar and restaurant is on the opposite side of the road, with another nightclub just 2min walking distance from here. Location of the Forum can’t be better. It is situated just above the St Leonards train station. A bus stop on the highway is 50m away from here.


Ongoing development in the area

Residential apartments make up about 90% of the dwellings here. St Leonards is dotted with many high rises. Many new apartments are in the making. It is estimated that the area will have a whopping 5000 more apartments by 2031. This boost is in line with government’s planning of a new metro link in the region. There are also plans to build a new public plaza at interchanging stations. New retail and commercial spaces are likely to come up around the area. The Royal North Shore Hospital has also renovated its facility to improve and modernize the services.


Schools & Daycares

St Leonards has some good schools and daycares options too. St Leonard's Church of England Primary School, Greenwich Public School, Wenona School Ltd to name a few of them here that feature in the list of top 50 public schools.

Some good daycares here are Froebel, Goodstart Early Learning, Christie Street, Kidstart Family Day Care, Little Learning School, and Reddam House Early Learning School and Willoughby City Council Family Day Care

The area is generally safe with an average crime rate. The crime rate here is 439.9 per 100,000 population. Compare this to NSW rate per 100,000 population of 419.4

Internet here is good and fast. Most areas of St Leonards are connected by NBN fibre.


Proximity to city

St Leonards has a commercial centre that houses headquarters of many big Australian companies. The suburb is located just 5Km north-west of the Sydney’s central business district. The area is well connected by roads and trains too. There are frequent trains to carry you to the heart of the city.


Eating joints in that location

St Leonards offers you dining options as well. There are pizza, burger and pasta joints. You also have a café to unwind over a hot cuppa. There is a St Leonards hotel that offers a variety of cuisines.

St Leonards is a good suburb for working professionals and young adults who want to be close to the city. It is a great option for those who work here as well.
